medical coders

medical coding jobs

With employment rates expected to grow by 18 percent by 2016, it has never been a better time to be a medical coder. Due in large part to the mandates put out by the US Department of Health and Human Services to replace the ICD-9-DM code sets with ICD-10 code sets by October 1, 2013, the medical coding profession is bustling. The ICD-10 implementation has created an influx in job opportunities at facilities across the country –from large teaching hospitals, to rural medical center, insurance companies, and medical networks, to clinics, government facilities, and physicians groups – who are tasked with the significant challenge of changing the way the coding is done currently.
